Rick Oaks was born & raised in Miami, Florida & started playing drums at age 11.  Rick has been a working musician since the age of 14 & has played in a wide variety of bands ever since.  After playing in some of the top South Florida Rock, Country & Top 40 bands in the 70s & early 80s, Rick also  worked as a studio drummer.  Rick started playing with Blues bands in the early 80s, & one of these, The Midnight Blues Band, featured legendary guitarist Harvey Mandel (Canned Heat, John Mayall).

In 1989, Rick had the honor of playing in several concerts with another legend, Bo Diddley .  Over the years Rick has opened up for & performed with many other top Blues & Rock greats like Johnny Winter, Rod Price (lead guitarist from Foghat), James Cotton, John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, Ron Wood & Bobby Keys (Rolling Stones), Robin Robbins (Bob Seger Band), Wesley Wright (Miami Sound Machine) & Tom Doucette (Allman Brothers), to name a few.

Rick has continued to learn & master several different styles of music, which he has blended into a unique, versatile, dynamic style of playing.  Since moving to Pensacola in 2004, Rick has made a name for himself as one of the top drummers in the area, working in the studio and onstage with many local bands.

Rick has been playing with Johnny Barbato and The Lucky Doggs since 2009.
