Born and raised in New Orleans , Johnny grew up with a dose of Coonass Boogie!   Watching The Greats play all through the French Quater.  Music is The Life Blood of South Louisiana.  The Barbato family moved to Mobile Al. in the 70s where Johnny met a hot bed of Blues and Southern Rock Guitar Players . It was there he cut his teeth and Eventually recorded his first record Self Titled , ” The Lucky Doggs ” . The CD is a recollection of the Sounds of his Childhood , Laced with Boogie and lined with The Blues.

Later Johnny would sign first Record Deal with Rockin Camel Records!  “No Pain , No Gain ” , The record was produced by Paul Hornsby , whom through Capricorn records Produced such Southern Rock Legends as , Marshall Tucker , Charlie Daniels and many others. The Lucky Doggs toured and opened for such acts as The Black Crows , Mississippi Allstars , Wet Willie and many others.

Johnny and the Band are currently in the Studio working on Blues Project Due to release this Spring !

The World  Famous FLORABAMA has been a home for Johnny and The Lucky Doggs for some years now as The Band can be seen up and down the beach in those parts on a weekly basis. Do yourself a favor and catch A Lucky Dogg Show while down on the coast!

My heroes have always been people i could feel touch and talk to. My music and life are both dedicated to these people. They are all mostly  songwriters and players .
